2015 in Strive Development

Merry Christmas

Strive Development wishes you a Merry Christmas

In this newsletter, we tell you about what’s been happening at Strive Development over 2015.

CV & Career Planning Package

We’ve developed a CV & Career Planning Package to suit your needs from writing to your CV to our 5 step platinum service that increases your self-awareness through a MBTI questionnaire, rewrites your CV, develops a plan to enable you to achieve your career goals and includes a mock interview. So over the year we have helped a number of people with their CV & career planning. Here’s what Karen said:

“Speaking to Amanda at Strive Development really helped me shape my new CV but not only did it do that for me it also gave me a fresh perspective on my job role within the company.

I have found that through conversations with Amanda I have been able to clearly identify my skills and experience which has given me the confidence to move forward into a focused career move to a management role.

Amanda asked the questions that you never have the time to ask of yourself whilst she gets to know you, she takes your key points and translates it in to a language that companies can understand. Whether you are looking to move on or move up Strive Development gives you the tools to make a success of your next move.”

So, if you’re thinking about those new year resolutions & considering changing your job then give Amanda a call on 07930 286721 to find out more.

Coaching & Mentoring

Are you in a comfort zone that you want to get out of? Do you want to stretch & challenge yourself in 2016?

Coaching and mentoring can enable you to stretch yourself to either develop particular skills, deal with a particular situation or achieve your career aspirations. A mentor will challenge you to look at alternatives and develop solutions.

Rebecca said:

“Amanda provided executive level coaching and proved able to adapt her communication style, knowledge and professionalism to meet the individuals’ requirements. I would highly recommend Amanda for any future learning and development consultancy needs”.

CSR Activities

Over the year Strive Development has attended 9 career related events either at local Hertfordshire schools or mock interviews at Spear, Harrow. Here’s a newspaper extract from 1 of the events:

In May, 200 Year 10 pupils from Longdean School in Hemel Hempstead took part in an Employability Skills day organised and run by Connect Dacorum.
The event was interactive for the pupils – interviewing their facilitators, putting themselves in the mind of an employer looking at CVs for a new trainee graphic designer and critiquing them before moving on to looking in more detail at their own CVs and giving advice.

The second session concentrated on interview skills with mock interviews and also a fun “speed interviewing” game. The pupils came away with lot of helpful feedback and advice directly from employers about what they look for in a CV, covering letter and throughout the interview process.

A participant on the Spear course, sent the following thank you:

Thank you for taking the time from your afternoon to interview me yesterday. Also thank you for your helpful feedback and for your tips for getting into employment.

Strive Development also supports Transitions UK, a Herts, Beds & Bucks based charity  whose aim is to make a significant positive impact upon the lives of 15-25 year-olds in the UK who are struggling with poverty, unemployment and a range of personal and social issues. We have worked with Transitions UK to recruit a Marketing & Fundraising apprentice. Ron Overton, CEO of Transitions UK made the following comments:

“I have just appointed our new Apprentice Marketing and Fundraising Officer and am delighted with the candidate we secured through Amanda Winder and Strive Development. Not only did Amanda go the extra mile(s) to ensure we got the right person; she took the time to understand our needs and find the right partner companies to ensure a good gene pool so we could find the best possible candidate. I am delighted to recommend Strive Development and their professional, tailored and effective service.”

Earlier in the year we redeveloped the website & our branding.
