With an increasing focus on ESG goals, social value is gaining more attention than ever.

Local Authority Social Value / S106 targets can be challenging and failure to achieve can be very expensive.

Strive Development can provide a ‘delegate and forget’ service to ensure you meet your Social Value / S106 obligations.

In our experience, demonstrating successful delivery of social value obligations has helped our clients to win further projects, especially in public bids.

S106 Obligations and Services

Your obligations and how we can help fulfil them:

  • Developing an Employment & Skills Plan to meet your S106 obligations
  • Assisting with writing Social Value/ S106 aspects of bid
  • Managing the Employment & Skills Plan

Ventry Construction has successfully collaborated with Strive Development on our Ripple Road project in the borough of Barking and Dagenham. Prior to the commencement of the development Ventry Construction were assigned a number of obligatory employment and skills by Barking and Dagenham Council in accordance with S106. Engaging Strive Development to manage our Employment and Skills Plan on this project has meant that we have been able to focus on the construction. Strive Development suggested ways and options to meet the targets which accommodated our working limitations and provided open communication throughout the process. They provided the job descriptions, sourced the candidates and supported the interview process for the recruitment of local labour. This made the process easier and less time intensive for our project team. Strive Development organised and facilitated all of the work experience for 10 candidates, which included a week programme over the summer in collaboration with Barking Council at their BRIC Centre. The candidates were put into small teams and tasked with designing and costing up the production of a wooden planter which was subsequently donated to a local school. Ventry Construction provided materials and tools and supported the programme with Strive Development. Strive Development also assisted with IAG and careers workshops engaging with the local schools and college by providing information and insights into the construction industry.
Ventry Construction appreciate the efforts by Strive Development assisting with the completion of the Section 106 obligations and we look forward to continuing our collaborations on further projects in the future.
